Ectron is committed to providing complete system solutions as well as meeting individual needs. With 7 different magnetic stimulators, 27 different coils and a wide range of accessories, the MagPro® product line provides a solution to most stimulation needs.

MagPro Coils

The coils come in many sizes and shapes. Large coils provide good penetration depth, but are not very focused. The small coils are more focused, but have a relatively shallow penetration depth. Thus there is an inverse relation between penetration depth and focus.
The two most commonly used coil shapes are the circular coil and the butterfly coil also known as the “figure of 8” coil. Both the circular and the butterfly coils come in static or dynamic cooled versions for demanding protocols.

Circular Coils
When applying the circular coil, the induced current in the tissue occurs under the windings. A fairly large area of body tissue will be stimulated. The circular coil may be positioned conveniently over many parts of the body, and usually serves well as a “general purpose coil”.

Butterfly Coils
The Butterfly coils are more focused in comparison with the circular coils. The two windings are placed side-by-side, enabling the coil to stimulate structures with focus right under its centre. The butterfly coil is useful in focused stimulation.

Coils with Fluid (Static Cooled Coils)
Magnetic stimulating coils become warm during use, because energy is deposited in the coil due to electrical resistance. To prevent fast overheating in the coil, coils with a reservoir of fluid (F-coils) have been developed. The fluid partially absorbs the heat, enabling the coil to perform more stimuli.

Coils with External Cooling (Dynamic Cooled Coil)
Where a very high number of stimuli is required at high repetition rates and long pulse trains, extra cooling is necessary. Cool-Coils with external Cooler Unit fulfil these requirements.

Coil Controls
Most coils have a trigger button in the handle for clinical operation. In addition, coils C-100, C-B60, MMC-140-II and RT-120-II feature a power control in the handle, making remote control of the amplitude possible.

Custom Design and Modifications
Custom designed coils are available as well as modifications to existing coils, ranging from extending the coil cable to a complete change of geometry of the coil. Please contact Ectron for further details.

Coil Converter
Coils without power control in the handle can only be used with the MagPro Compact if equipped with a Coil Converter; see accessories section..
