AMADEO

Hand, Fingers and Thumb Rehabilitation

The AMADEO is the most advanced robotic-assisted finger-hand therapy device world-wide and is the very latest in a long row of clinically tried and tested robotic and computer-assisted therapy devices for the hand, fingers and thumb.

The AMADEO's unique design and the specially developed tyroS software makes the AMADEO a popular choice for hospitals and clinics across the world and in the UK at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Stoke Mandeville Spinal Unit and MOTIONrehab's Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation Centre.

The AMADEO offers a flexible and wide range of therapy options for the hand, fingers and thumb.

The beauty of the AMADEO is that it is suitable at any stage of rehabilitation for the  hand, fingers and thumb.  The AMADEO can be easily adapted to the needs of each individual patient. It is suitable for adults and paediatric applications and can be used on small or big hands. The AMADEO can be used to train just a single finger or thumb or all fingers and thumbs at the same time.

AMADEO is suitable for neurological, orthopedic and paediatric applications.

In cases of limited mobility of the fingers, specific exercises on AMADEO can help improve motor and sensory functions. The finger movements stimulate the brain and thus the neoformation of synapses.

Functionality

The AMADEO simulates the natural grasping motion and executes automated movement sequences. Depending on the degree of neurological damage, the patient can be treated passively or actively. The therapist can chose a therapy program suited for the individual patient:
  • Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) Therapy: The passive hand is stimulated
  • Assistive Therapy: The hand displays function and permits active training at the patient’s limit of performance.
  • Interactive Therapy: active training with specifically developed virtual therapy games.
The AMADEO also includes:
  • Improved evaluation of the force actively exerted by the patient, as well as the active Range of Motion (ROM)
  • Tonus and spasticity measurement
  • Spasticity therapy and sensitivity training
Ergonomics and Flexibility for Adults and Children

Before therapy with the AMADEO begins, thumb and finger supports are attached to the patient’s finger tips with special plasters. This allows for an individual fit and guarantees hygienic working conditions.

The finger supports contain magnets, which connect to the AMADEO finger slides. The ergonomic hand-arm-rest supports the patient’s arm during therapy.

For arm-therapy with children, the therapist can easily and effortlessly exchange the hand-arm-rest. The finger slides and the range of motion of each finger adapt to adult and children’s hands. Specially manufactured thumb and finger supports and plasters make the AMADEO an ideal therapy option.
